"We brought Forward Biz in to help us figure out why our margins were shrinking despite growing sales. Turned out two of our five product lines were losing money once you allocated overheads properly. They helped us discontinue one, reprice the other, and margins went from 11 % to 19 % in six months."
Client testimonials
These are direct quotes from business owners and directors we have worked with. We have their permission to publish them here with their names and roles.
"I was sceptical about consultants. I have been burned before by people who write reports and disappear. This team stayed for four months, sat in our weekly management meetings and actually helped us implement the changes. Our fulfilment error rate dropped from 4.2 % to under 1 %."
"They helped us prepare a funding application for a £250k facility from our bank. The financial model they built was the clearest thing our relationship manager had ever seen, her words. We got approved in three weeks, which our accountant said normally takes eight."
"We were merging two small practices into one. The change-management support was critical. They ran the staff briefings, set up anonymous feedback forms and caught a morale problem in the admin team before anyone resigned. Twelve months later, we have not lost a single person from either original team."
"Straightforward people. They told us in the first call that one of the things we wanted help with was outside their expertise and recommended someone else for it. That honesty made us trust them with everything else. The growth plan they wrote is still pinned to my office wall."
Case studies
Howells Hospitality Group: from cash-flow crunch to funded expansion
Gareth Howells runs three restaurants and a boutique hotel in West Wales. In early 2023 he approached us because post-pandemic costs had eaten into cash reserves and he needed a bank facility to refurbish the hotel before the summer season.
We spent two weeks rebuilding his financial model from scratch. The existing spreadsheet mixed personal and business expenses, had no monthly granularity and did not account for seasonal swings. Our model separated the four trading entities, showed monthly cash positions for each, and included a stress scenario where occupancy dropped 20 % below the prior year.
The bank approved a £250,000 facility within three weeks of receiving the pack. The hotel refurbishment was completed in April 2023, and summer revenue that year was 28 % above 2022.
Greenway Distribution: cutting fulfilment costs by £42,000 a year
Greenway is a third-party logistics provider based in Newport, handling e-commerce fulfilment for about 40 online retailers. When Daniel Osei called us in mid-2022, error rates were climbing and two major clients had threatened to leave.
We spent three days on site, shadowing pickers and packers, mapping the warehouse layout and reviewing the shift schedule. Three problems stood out: the rota created a staffing gap between 14:00 and 16:00 when afternoon orders peaked, the barcode scanning step was being skipped on small items, and one carrier contract had not been renegotiated since 2019.
We restructured the rota to overlap shifts during the peak window, introduced a mandatory scan-and-confirm step for all parcels regardless of size, and renegotiated the carrier contract, saving £18,000 a year on that alone. Total annual savings came to £42,000, and the error rate fell from 4.2 % to 0.9 % within ten weeks.
